Burnout is on the rise globally, with 42% of the workforce reporting it[1].
Figures have been constantly increasing over the past 5 years. A recent study conducted by Inami[2] in Belgium shows a 46% increase in long-term burnout and depression for the period 2016-2021.
This comes at a huge cost. More than 1,6 billion EUR solely for the long-term burnout and depression (over than 1 year work incapacity).
And burnout also affects retention. An employee reporting being burned out at work is nearly 3.4 times more likely to look for a new job.
